The Cal Arsenal Boys BU16 team enjoyed another successful season, this year in the CSL Premier League. After finishing 3rd in regular league play, (7 wins, 1 loss, 3 ties - with an impressive 7 shutouts), we went on to win League Cup against a very tough Valley United Blast team.
National Cup play brought us a new challenge - playing up one year in the U17 bracket! After a tie in the rain and hail and a win under the blazing sun we moved on to our last preliminary game against the National Champion ISC Strikers, winners of U19 Premier. After an extremely competitive and evenly matched game the Strikers finally broke through our defense for the only goal of the game.
We felt good moving on to the next round...it showed on the field with a 3-0 mark against a very physical side.
The quarterfinals! The final 8 brought us much anticipation and excitement and focus. Though we controlled the flow of the game for the first half, with an evenly matched second half, we weren't able to find the back of the net while the older side took advantage of a scramble in front of our net. Their single goal was the difference in the most entertaining and well played game.
Along the way we raised many eyebrows with our mature game play, made more believers in our skill level and had a blast to boot!
